I'm gonna be the proud mama, today, folks!!
At the end of school last year, in 6th grade (intermediate school), Thing 2 auditioned for placement in the middle school's band program, for this year. He won a position in their top band, Symphonic 1, which is mostly comprised of 8th graders. His position was 9th chair out of 10 - but, hey! he made it.
This week, they did chair tests and he moved up to 2nd chair. He did flawlessly on his technical performance, with only one error on lyrical and one error on chromatic (he breathed).
Needless to say, I am proud of him and happy for him. But what I'm so thankful about is his attitude about it. He regularly acknowledges others that he feels are better than him at playing the trumpet. Even in his excitement of telling me that he was 2nd chair now, he was amazed that he placed better than 'the really good ones'.
I'm thinking that God's given me one of the really 'good' ones!
How sweet! And what a great attitude. You should be proud! Oh, the picture of your house looks lovely. Can't wait to see the new blog.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to thank you for visiting my blog. Wow! I think your comment is one of the nicest compliments I've ever had. What a great confirmation to my heart! Bless you!
Barb: thanks for dropping by my blog today.
ReplyDeleteThat's great about your son. Music is such a gift from God! I am a pianist myself and often find peace and comfort when I am making music.
