I believe we are still a nation under God, even though we often do not act like it and although so many are trying to make that not just politically incorrect, but illegal to say. In a previous post, Today I prayed for America, I compared the decline of this great country to the nation of Israel, referencing how Israel, repeatedly, fell captive to enemy nations when they turned their backs on God.
Sadder, though, than being taken captive or destroyed by an enemy, is when a country destroys itself. Edie quoted President Lincoln in her post, saying that America wouldn't be destroyed from the outside, that if we lose our freedoms, it's because we destroyed ourselves. Socialist party leader, Brian Moore, was quoted in our local paper as saying that America wouldn't become socialist all at once, wouldn't accept it at full face value - but a little here, a program there - and one day Americans would wake up and wonder how it had happened; how had they become the Socialist States of America?
Christians in America do need to wake up and realize that our time is now! Prayer is needed now! God's values are needed now! Truth is needed now! Evil will prevail only if good men fail to do anything. The apostles and disciples in the new Testament daily fought political and their current religious leaders to get the truth to the people; many died for His truth!
I am only one, but I am an individual under God. You are only one, are you under God? If all of us individuals, who align ourselves under one Holy God, will unite and join together, we can once again be truly known as a nation under God... and the promises and blessings for God's peoples can be upon us.
Heavenly Father, I pray that you will restore the hearts, minds and lives, of America, to yourself. Help those of us who call ourselves Christians to truly follow after Jesus Christ. I pray that America will repent and turn back to following only you. Open our understanding to the spiritual oppression and warfare that Satan brings against us and deliver us! Help us to be aware of the devious tricks he plays and who he is using. Allow your Spirit to flow in us and through us, as we reach out to the lost, hopeless and dying - as we reach out to America. Lord, I pray that you will give Godly wisdom, knowledge and understanding to those who have leadership in America, that they will make wise decisions, based on Your will. Help each American to know Your voice and follow Your leading and will, as we prepare to vote in this election. Heal our land, our great country, America. In Jesus name... amen.
