When God Revealed Himself

Newscaster:
We are the first to bring you this exclusive, breaking news story: sources have leaked to us, that God has revealed Himself tonight and we have reporters on the scene to bring live pictures of this amazing event to you!
Let's take a look at the scene.

Drum roll
Newscaster: (smug chuckle)
Curtain, please!

Drum roll continues

Newscaster: (dramatically)
Ta daa!

Stillness, darkness, soft baaing of sheep

Newscaster: (Nervous cough and laugh)
Okay, it appears we're having some technical difficulties or our reporters aren't quite able to find the site. No - it looks like we've got a picture and our reporter is at a farm. There's a stable of some kind, some cows and donkeys. Okay, they're telling me that this is in Bethlehem in Judea.

Alright, well, what we're seeing right now is a huge star above the stable ... can you see that?! It's brighter than anything I've ever seen. It doesn't look like one I've seen before. Weather - can we get a name for that star?

Oh wait, what's that? In the stable - I'm seeing a couple and a ... is that a baby?!

Whoa!! What's that?!? It appears to be... angels?? Are all of you seeing this? Do you see what I'm seeing?! Angels singing...

Folks! They're telling me this is the correct picture! This is no technical error!. The baby we're seeing in that stable is purportedly the Almighty God in the flesh!

Surely there's been a mist
ake...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is so amazing to me. In this little baby, later growing into a young man, is the fullness of God. God's inherent traits and characteristics are modeled in this human form , for us to see and experience: love, kindness, gentleness, meekness, anger, righteousness, honesty, holiness, laughter, concern, sorrow, joy, determination... and so much more.
If you want to 'see God', take a long, intimate look at Jesus, and you will find Him.
This Christmas, as you revisit the nativity, realize once again, the true gift that was given.
Shalom
  1. Amen Barb. It's interesting that you posted this today, still before Thanksgiving and all. I say that because I have had the celebration of the Birth of Christ on my mind and in my prayers all day today.
