Who do you run to?

I recently read about a man who was on a train, watching a small little girl playing and interacting with the passengers. He wondered which one she belonged to because she was so friendly and comfortable with everyone.

Suddenly, the train went through a dark tunnel, and the little girl went flying into the arms of a man several rows back.

Question answered. There was no doubt who she belonged to, now.

The world watches us.

I wonder if they know who we belong to?

Who do you run to when life gets tough, when you go through a dark tunnel?

Used to be that Christians would run to God, to the altar. They would throw themselves upon the mercy and counsel of the One Who created it all.

They would search out direction from the Wisdom of the Ages. They would seek comfort from the Holy Ghost - the Comforter. Ray Boltz had a song out in the 1980's called The Altar, in which he sang what the altar is for, who it's for.

Nowadays, who do we run to - really?

Do we run to doctors and psychotherapists? Do we run to our co-workers?



Do we run to television advice... self help?


Do we seek out our best friend, or perhaps that one person at church who really seems to have it all together?

Who do we tell this world that we put utmost importance on and trust in... because that's where they see us go, time after time, when we really need help?

Wouldn't it be great if this world knew, without a shadow of doubt, that we belonged to God, because everytime we ran into trouble or tough times, they saw us run and throw ourselves in His lap, they heard us talking about praying

and asking Him about it, they heard about the way He responded and moved in our behalf... they realized because of our witness and testimony that there was a source that they didn't know about themselves - a love that would not let them go in the midst of trouble?

In the good times, and the bad, I want my world to know that my trust, my hope, my help is in Jesus and that I belong to Him!
