WHAT IF?

WHAT IF we were so comfortably familiar with this world that we really didn't care if Jesus came back... ever... much less soon?

WHAT IF we were so comfortable in our homes here that we didn't care if we had a mansion in Heaven?

WHAT IF we were so pleased with our jobs and careers that we didn't care that we wont have to work in Heaven?

WHAT IF we loved our families so much that we didn't want to be in a transformed body, didn't want to have a different relationship with them?

WHAT IF we so enjoyed the freedoms and liberties of a great country that we didn't really desire another country, another city?

WHAT IF we hadn't lived according to God's word, so we really didn't want him to come for us?

WHAT IF we forgot to pray for Jesus to return?

Do you think God might prune away the vines and weeds of this world out of our lives so we weren't so entwined with this world?

Do you think God might begin to remove the comforts we enjoy, so that we weren't quite so comfortable?

Do you think God might remove some of our wealth and dependency on this world, so we didn't hold it in such high regard?

Is it possible, that God is removing the greatness and freedoms of our country so that we might long for another?

When I look back over 2009 and question, "Why?" over some of the events and happenings in my life, I realize another question might be more to the point; I just have to wonder, "What if?"
